TIRANA, January 30 – The agreement between the Albanian government and the investor Alabbar for the tourism project of Durrës was signed by the deputy Finance Minister and Economy, Besart Kadia, the investor, Muhammed El Alabbar and Erlis Hereni, director of the Agency for the realization of this project.
“The largest economic project in the Republic of Albania”. This is how the Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku considered the agreement signed on Monday for the development of the “Durrës Yacht & Marina” project between the Albanian Government, Albanian Seaports Development Agency, Eagle Hills Real Estate.
“This is the biggest economic project that the Republic of Albania has ever had, but also with an important element. For the first time, the Albanian state is a co-shareholder in a project which will have an investment value of around 2 billion euros. This project will change all aspects of tourism for the entire region,” said Balluku.
According to the Infrastructure and Energy Minister, this project, the first of its kind, envisages the creation of a joint company where the state, which is a 33% shareholder, has all the benefits of a shareholder in income and profit.
“Durres will now have two ports, the tourist port of Marina, and the commercial port of Porto Romano,” she said, adding that the detailed engineering presentation will be made on February 1.
In the meantime, Prime Minister Edi Rama expressed his conviction that the “Durrës Yacht & Marina” project enters the Albanian economy as a locomotive that will bring an extraordinary impact on increasing the speed of economic development.
“This is the most important tourist project, the greatest foreign investment in our history and perhaps in the region, which will radically transform Durrës, placing it in the main tourist destinations in the Mediterranean, with a deep economic impact not only for the coastal city but for the entire country,” said Rama. /Argumentum.al
