TIRANA, January 30 – The American Embassy in Pristina said that the Office of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and that of the President Vjosa Osmani, have confirmed their participation in the discussion about the Association, which this embassy will organize on January 31.
“Our goal is to advance mutual understanding of the commitment to the Association of Serb-Majority Municipalities,” said a response from US Embassy spokeswoman Katherine Judd to Radio Free Europe on Monday.
The American Embassy said that the discussion about the Association consists of the goal of the United States to advance the integration of Kosovo in the European and Euro-Atlantic structures and is a “reflection on our long friendship and support for the people of Kosovo”.
The United States has previously stated that a diverse group of civil society leaders, government officials, political leaders and diplomats have been invited to the January 31 discussion.
The two opposition parties, the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Democratic League of Kosovo, have also confirmed their participation in the discussion organized by the US.
In an interview given to Radio Free Europe last week, Kurti, who spoke against the creation of the Association, stated that he had not yet received an invitation for the January 31 discussion. /Argumentum.al
