TIRANA, February 13 – The situation was chaotic inside and outside the Assembly during its plenary session as Democratic Party (DP) deputies, who were dismissed from the deliberations were not allowed to enter its premises on Monday.
This caused the first clash between them and the security guard of the parliament. Deputy Luciano Boçi said to the media that the punishment against the deputies is disciplinary, which allows them to attend the sessions without interference.
Meanwhile, the protest called by DP head Sali Berisha has been joined by supporters of the opposition who gathered in front of the hall of plenary session of the Assembly.
After the expelled MPs were not allowed to enter the plenary session hall, the protesters clashed with the police and tried to break the police cordon. They threw firecrackers and cigarettes at the police officers.
In his speech outside the Parliament, the head of the Freedom Party, llir Meta, said that, “we will win and the Albanians and Albania will be here for hundreds and thousands of years more, while Rilindja, the unfaithful sect against Fatherland’s family, will go where McGonigal is. I thank you for your endurance and your citizenship. The victory is very close.”
In the meantime the deputy of the DP, Albana Vokshi, in her speech before the protesters, said the Assembly has been usurped by Edi Rama and representatives of “Rilindja”.
“Rama demands not to account for the affair with McGonigal… We do not give up. Today he put his guard in front of us. No, we don’t have the guard and the police. I urge them to come out here. To unite with the people,” Vokshi said. /Argumentum.al
