TIRANA, February 16 – Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Thursday that the trial against former members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) in The Hague is an undeserved price that they are paying just because they fought for their country.
This message was given by Rama in an exhibition with the works of the former commander of the KLA, Rexhep Selimi, who is imprisoned in The Hague following the request of the special prosecution.
“Today they have been called to pay a price they do not deserve. But life brought it like this from our side. In addition to expressing solidarity and extending the hand of brotherhood, all of us have the duty in our own position to do what we can to make their burden easier, of course in an effort that is totally unequal,” he said.
The head of the Albanian government said that the isolation of the former commanders of the Kosovo Liberation Army is unjust.
“I am extremely glad that today the family of Rexhep Selimi, one of the four commanders of the KLA, who are unjustly locked in prison, is here today,” said Rama.
Rexhep Selimi has brought to Tirana 153 paintings made during his stay in the detention of the Special Court of The Hague. The exhibition is part of the activities for the 15th anniversary of Kosovo’s independence. /Argumentum.al
