TIRANA, March 7 – The chairman of the Freedom Party (FP), Ilir Meta, spoke during a press conference on Tuesday about the cooperation with the chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha in the May 14 elections although the latter has not yet said that he will form a coalition with Meta.
The FP chairman said that their relationship with DP and all the opposition is only in the interest of the citizens of Albania.
“We have a historic agreement with DP regarding the issue of councils and their transformation into tribunes and you can be sure that this cooperation will work wonderfully,” said the head of the Freedom Party, which has been registered with the Central Elections Commission to participate in the local power elections on May 14 this year.
“We are online with Berisha and not only but also with all the candidates of the primaries who are also from FP and the opposition, who want change and the eradication of monism in the local government. See the reports of the organizations, only 1 municipality, that of Shkodra, meets the criteria of transparency. It is the only one that publishes every act and decision, the others are a dark well,” said Meta, a former president.
In conclusion he said that the municipal councils will be a symbol of transparency and according to him everything will be for the citizens, who will hold us accountable for the investments. “This is our major commitment. Why should we be the last for education, for teachers’ salaries,” said Meta on a day when Albania marked the Teachers’ Day. /Argumentum.al
