TIRANA, March 7 – The Transmission System Operator (OST) and the operator of Montenegro (CGES) will cooperate for the joint implementation of the planning and development of two important projects of interconnection lines between the two countries.
The administrator of the OST, Skerdi Drenova, as well as the Montenegrin counterpart, Vladimir Bojicic, signed the memorandum of understanding in Tirana on Monday, according to reports released by the local utility on Tuesday.
Among the projects that the parties commit to cooperate on are the rehabilitation of the existing 220 kV Vau Dejës – Koplik – Podgorica interconnection line with a total length of about 160 km, as well as the new 110 kV Ulcin-Velipoja interconnection line, with a total length of about 16 km.
“Through these investments, an additional corridor for the transmission of electricity between the two countries is created and the safety and quality of the energy supply of the North region is significantly increased, fully exploiting the tourist potential of the area,” said the OST. /Argumentum.al
