TIRANA, March 14 – The Chairman of the Freedom Party (FP), Ilir Meta, said on Tuesday that he has no interest in the decision of the State Election Commissioner for the non-registration of the Democratic Party (DP) with Lulzim Basha as chairman in the 14 May local power elections.
“For me, it is important that the Albanians will have the opportunity to vote to punish this monist system after 60 days. It is four years lost,” said Meta, a former president.
“We have an agreement with the Democratic Party that has been made public for a long time. For me, it is important that we will go to the elections in 60 days. The coalition has been signed for months,” he said on a TV interview.
“The registration of candidates is a technical matter. The opposition is confident and united towards a historic victory. The comments about Basha were made in time. I don’t want to get into the issue of the Democratic Party because the people resolved it on March 6, the members of the Democratic Party also resolved it, but the court also resolved it. We are heading towards the triumph of the opposition against a monist regime,” said Meta. /Argumentum.al
