TIRANA, March 29 – The government has decided to increase salaries for the public administration with the aim that within two years, the average salary in the administration will reach the level of 900 Euros. The decision was made public by Prime Minister Edi Rama after the government meeting, as there was criticism by the opposition that such a decision was taken in the frame of the electoral campaign for the May 14 local elections.
According to Rama, the decision will be implemented in two stages and it is intended that Albania have salaries at the high level of the region.
The other news that Prime Minister Rama gave was the award of 5,000 Lek to pensioners from the income realized from taxes from large energy producers. When asked if this decision for the pensioners contradicts the Electoral Code, as the country is on the verge of local elections, Rama said that nothing can prevent the government from what the parties have set.
“No one can prevent us from rewarding the pensioners in the conditions when for the pensioners not 5,000 new Lek, but also 1,000 Lek, are important,” he said.
In the meantime, Rama said that the government will not grant construction permits or the right to invest in public works if the full salaries of the employees are not declared.
Asked why Vlora Hysen has not yet been appointed head of the State Intelligence Service, the prime minister did not give any answer but made fun with journalists reminding them of the so-called ‘rumors of the Albanian political and media village’. /Argumentum.al
