TIRANA, April 7 – Prime Minister Edi Rama congratulated the newly elected president of Montenegro, Jakov Milatovic on Friday.
In his congratulations, Rama emphasized the future and prosperity between the two neighboring countries.
“I extend congratulations to the newly elected President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, and may the significant support he received from the voters turn into as much prosperity as possible for the neighboring country, with which Albania’s past, present and future are inextricably linked,” said Rama in a post on social networks.
Milatovic, a 36-year-old Western-educated economics expert, won the presidential runoff election in Montenegro on April 2, defeating pro-Western incumbent Milo Djukanovic who has been in power for more than three decades in Montenegro.
In an interview right after his victory Milatovic said that his intention is to further develop the relations with all Balkan countries and also he would not withdraw the recognition of Kosovo. Pro-Serb groups in Montenegro supported him in getting elected and that is why it is claimed by some political circles that Milatovic is pro-Serb. /Argumentum.al
