TIRANA, April 9 – The Albanian Electricity Exchange (ALPEX) will start trading on April 12.
The start of trading marks the fulfillment of one of Albania’s main objectives within the framework of the implementation of Albania’s duties and commitments in the energy treaty of South-Eastern European countries for which actors such as MIE, ERE and OST have been engaged.
The Energy Regulatory Entity (ERE) approved at the Board meeting in recent days the proposal of ALPEX and the Market time unit, which belongs to 00:00 on April 12, as the day of the start of trading on the Exchange.
The operation of the Stock Exchange will create the conditions for a transparent and liquid market, as well as create the possibility for expansion by joining the electricity markets with Kosovo, as a first stage, with the region and further with the EU markets in the further development of the common European market.
This will bring new challenges for market actors in Albania, including the Regulator. /Argumentum.al
