TIRANA, April 12 – “I appreciated the open communication on all the issues we discussed in the meeting and emphasized the importance of maintaining together the partnership and strategic alliance between the United States of America and Albania,” has said the chairman of the Freedom Party (FP) at a meeting with the Deputy Assistant Secretary and U.S. Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar at the premises of FP on Wednesday.
This was announced in a post on social networks by Meta, who underlined that for Albania, the alliance with the US is fundamental for democracy, economic development, the security of the country and the region.

“I welcomed today the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for European Affairs and Special Representative for the Western Balkans, Mr. Gabriel Escobar. I appreciated the open communication on all the issues we discussed in the meeting. I emphasized the importance of maintaining together the partnership and strategic alliance between the United States of America and Albania.
For Albania, the alliance with the USA is fundamental for democracy, economic development, the security of the country and the region.
I thanked Mr. Escobar for the support of the NATO base project in Kuçovo, as well as the extraordinary assistance for strengthening the defense capacities related to cyber security.
I assessed that the engagement of the USA in the negotiation process between Kosovo and Serbia is essential and guarantees the successful conclusion of the dialogue between the two countries.
I emphasized that the May 14 elections are a big day of change for all Albanians, which will put an end to monism in local government and restore democracy, transparency and accountability in all municipalities of the country.
I underlined Freedom Party’s determination to fulfill all obligations arising from the partnership and strategic alliance between Albania and the USA.
Likewise, I expressed the determination of the Freedom Party to speed up the European integration process of the country, with a priority on the fight against corruption and the strengthening of the rule of law.” /Argumentum.al
