TIRANA, April 13 – The Chairman of the Freedom Party (FP), Ilir Meta, has said in a statement to the media that corruption is a problem of concern to Albanians, referring to the survey data of the International Republican Institute.
Meta said on Thursday that FP candidates will offer a program that will ease the cost of living in Albania.
“In Tirana, the International Republican Institute has just published a survey, which shows that the vast majority of Albanian citizens listed the cost of living and corruption as their biggest concerns. They say that the Albanian democracy has not progressed enough, and that they are worried about the recent increase in emigration. 87% of them claimed that corruption is a serious problem in Albania. The vast majority of respondents, 79% of adults, claimed that high prices and living costs are the country’s main issues,” he said.
Further Meta said that the majority affirm that the economic situation has remained the same or has worsened. 53% of the citizens think that the municipal leaders are working little or not at all to address the needs of the residents. Almost 3/4 of the current mayors of the majority are running in the elections again.
Likewise, Meta said that a large number of citizens of all ages and professions, even from all walks of life and levels of living, are leaving Albania.
“Emigration is really a big concern, because it affects the entire economy, the workforce, and companies look for workers in their branches. The World Bank finds that for the 25% of the population with the lowest income, 70% of all their income is spent on food alone without counting the spending for medicine, rent, electricity, taxes, local fees, etc. .,” he said.
According to Meta the plan of FP candidates helps a lot to reduce the cost of living and the local taxes that have increased dramatically. /Argumentum.al
