TIRANA, May 8 – A delegation of the Council of American Ambassadors, headed by the president of this Council, Ambassador Timothy Chorba, met on Monday with President Bajram Begaj, who, according to a press released by his press office, introduced them to the reforms and steps taken to consolidate democratic institutions and the rule of law in Albania.
This delegation of former senior American diplomats is visiting Albania as part of a regional fact-gathering tour in three Western Balkan countries: Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia.
Begaj pointed out the support that Albania gives to the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, as the only alternative for reaching an internationally binding agreement, centered on their mutual recognition.
Meanwhile, regarding the European integration process, President Begaj underlined that, after NATO membership, membership in the European Union remains the biggest strategic priority of Albania and Albanians. /argumentum.al
