TIRANA, May 13 – The Ambassador of Germany to Tirana, Peter Zingraf, has described the local elections of May 14 as an indicator of Albania’s progress on its way to the European Union.
“The local elections on Sunday are not only an important milestone for Albania itself, but also an indicator of Albania’s progress on its way to the European Union,” said Zingraf in a statement to the media on Friday.
“With your vote, you can shape Albania’s future and further strengthen its democracy. For this purpose, the elections must be fair and transparent, this constitutes the basis of democracy,” he told the citizens.
Zingraf also gave a message to young people in these elections, saying that they should cast their vote with integrity and reject manipulations.
“I want to say in a special way to the young people in the country: Get informed, go to the elections, participate in the democratic process, give your vote to candidates with integrity, reject all attempts of manipulation and lack of transparency,” appealed the ambassador.
Zigraf said that Germany will continue to accompany Albania as a strong partner on its way to the European Union. /argumentum.al
