TIRANA, May 19 – At the thanksgiving meeting in the city of Shkodra for the May 14 elections, Prime Minister Edi Rama declared on Friday that Shkodra belongs to everyone.
Prime Minister Rama thanked all those who supported the Socialist Party (SP) and Benet Beci, who was elected the new Mayor of Shkodra.
He said that he considers this result in Shkodra as the biggest challenge that has been made to him and the Socialist Party.
According to Rama, Shkodra’s vote was beyond the vote of the socialists, beyond those who voted traditionally, it was a vote with the mind rather than the heart.
Shkodra has traditionally been a stronghold of the Democratic Party (DP) and it is the first time after 3 decades that a Socialist is Mayor of the largest town in northern Albania.
“We have a double obligation to turn this investment that people have made, and not only the socialists, but also another part who are not socialists, into a debt repayment that must take this fact into account, since the way Bennet will govern the municipality,” he said, adding that Shkodra’s municipality will be everyone’s municipality. /argumentum.al
