TIRANA, May 25 – The Albanian Assembly adopted the package of the reform of the salaries with the votes of the majority and opposition and Prime Minister Edi Rama during his speech in the plenary session said when this majority took over the leadership of the country the average salary was 259 euros, while in April next year it will go to 900 euros.
“It is time for wages to take the place that people deserve at this stage. We are not satisfied, it does not end here, but here we stop for a moment to assess the fact,” said Rama.
The Minister of Finance and Economy, Delina Ibrahimaj announced in her speech during Thursday’s session that the salary reform in the administration creates the right conditions to make the administration competitive.
“We intend to improve the hierarchy, to attract and retain qualified employees in the administration. We make a direct connection between the job position and the corresponding responsibility with the salary. We are giving a better salary for the job positions and we will expect a better job for every salary,” she said.
The minister announced that this reform enables that for every two lek collected in the budget, from taxes and fees, one lek goes for direct transfers to the citizens.
The package of salary reform laws also includes the amendments proposed by the deputies of the Economy and Finance committee for changing the salary index for deputies and ministers.
In the initial draft, the government proposed that the salary of MPs should be 36% of the President’s salary, while the Commission approved that the salary of MPs should be 73% of the President’s salary, while the salary of ministers should be 75% of the President’s salary. /argumentum.al
