TIRANA, May 26 – The chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha warned on Friday that post-election complaints are a common routine, but the farce of the elections on May 14, 2023 had specifics and phenomena never seen in the 32-year history of elections in Albania.
“For the first time in the history of elections in Albania, the Electoral Code is announced publicly and officially at the beginning of the campaign by Edi Rama as nonsense, which means that they do not exist for him. Therefore, the Constitution and the Electoral Code were replaced in hundreds and thousands of cases with their will to win at any cost and at any price,” said Berisha.
According to him, (PM) Edi Rama and his subordinates appointed the chairman of the opposition coalition and for no reason did not accept the chairman of this coalition only to damage this coalition as much as possible, as they were afraid and terrified of Sali Berisha and his name.
DP head said that it has never happened that the prime minister campaigns and says that the municipalities where opposition could win will get no funds from the government.
Also, Berisha said that the “Together We Win” coalition saved the opposition in the country. “This coalition united 500,000 idealists, who did not sell out, did not sell the right to vote, did not get scared but stayed true to their ideals and voted for the opposition,” he said.
