TIRANA, June 3 – Prime Minister Edi Rama visited Calabria on Saturday, where he was welcomed by the Arberesh community, and on that occasion he paid a special visit to the Arberesh Diocese of Ungra, which proudly preserves its Albanian roots and identity today.
“Welcome the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama to our Arberesh Byzantine Eparchy in Ungra. Your arrival is a happy day for all the people of Arbëresh because it strengthens our ties with Mother Albania,” said Bishop of the Eparchy Donato Oliverio.
Prime Minister Rama thanked for the special hospitality and appreciated this visit as an opportunity to get to know and see the reality of an important community, such as that of Arbëresh, which for centuries has known how to preserve its identity and tradition, passing it on generation after generation.
“Thank you for this hospitality and for these special moments. We are very grateful for this hospitality, for this opportunity to get to know each other closely, to listen and understand how we can do more things together, how we can help each other,” said Rama.
