June 5-The European Union is ready to organize a high-level meeting in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, when the conditions are right. This is what the spokesperson Peter Stano said, who emphasized that at this stage the most important thing is the reduction of tensions in the field.
According to them, the conditions must be created for this meeting to take place. According to REL, this was said by the spokesperson of the EU, Peter Stano, commenting on the possible meeting between prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti and Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic.
“Of course, we are always ready to host a high-level meeting, in the framework of the dialogue between Prime Minister Kurti and President Vucic, when there are conditions, and when both of them agree on something like this. But, at right now, the most important thing is to lower tensions and take concrete steps. And precisely for this, we have the EU’s special envoy [Miroslav] Lajcak. After he is in Pristina and Belgrade, he will report to High Representative, [Josep] Borrell, and High Representative will notify the member countries, to decide on the next steps,” said Stano.
Lajcak and American envoy for Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, visit Kosovo on Monday and Serbia on Tuesday, with the aim of reducing tensions of the last few days in the north of Kosovo.
“They are going to continue working on implementation of European and American calls for Kosovo and Serbia to immediately reduce tensions and take steps for a lasting solution. The platform for this sustainable solution is anyway in the dialogue facilitated by the EU”, said Stano, among other things.
