TIRANA, June 6 – The Speaker of the Assembly, Lindita Nikolla, sent a greeting message on the National Day of Sweden on Tuesday.
“On the occasion of Sweden’s National Day, warm greetings to the Swedish people, Parliament and President Andreas Norlén,” said Nikolla in her message.
The Speaker pointed out that Sweden is a friendly country of Albania, a strong supporter of our European journey, the development and consolidation of democratic institutions.
“The Assembly of Albania was among the first parliaments of member countries to ratify Sweden’s admission to NATO and welcomes this membership,” said the Speaker, Nikolla.
June 6th marks two important anniversaries in Swedish history: the coronation of King Gustav Vasa, who liberated Sweden from the Kalmar Union in 1523 and the signing of the constitution in 1809. Sweden National Day celebrations span over a century, but it wasn’t officially established as a public holiday until 2005. /argumentum.al
