TIRANA, June 10 – The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, who is also a senior figure in the ruling Socialist Party, has expressed public support for the “Albanian Forum” coalition led by Nik Gjeloshaj, which is projected to win the majority of Albanians’ votes in Montenegro and be part of the new government after the elections that are expected to be held on Sunday.
“I wish you much success tomorrow. I pray to God that all Albanians support you, and give you the power we need to represent ourselves. We are not really the majority in Montenegro, but we can be the few that make the difference, that determines the way that country develops, that preserves its rights, culture and language with dignity,” Veliaj said in a video on social networks released on Saturday.
“Thank you, my friend Erion Veliaj, for the unsparing support you have given to the Albanian Forum and the concrete support to the municipality of Tuz. I am convinced that this cooperation will only intensify in the future! Thank you!” replied Nik Gjeloshaj next to the video published on his website.
After changing 3 different governments in 3 years, Montenegro goes to early elections to determine the new government.
The Albanian parties, which are divided into 3 coalitions, are among the 15 electoral lists.
Earlier Gjeloshaj said before that now is the moment for Albanians to unite. “In difficult times we must be together. Albanians in Montenegro need more development and employment. If you give us the confidence, we are on the right path to improve the infrastructure. Now is the time for the Albanian Forum to be well-represented in the parliament to be the worthy voice of the Albanians. Vote for the Albanian Forum,” said Gjeloshaj. /argumentum.al
