TIRANA, June 15 – Prime Minister Albin Kurti called the National Security Council in the early hours of Thursday morning regarding the kidnapping of 3 Albanian policemen, where he said that their kidnapping was aggression with the aim of escalation of the situation. He demanded the release of the policemen and asked the international community to condemn the act. He even expressed his surprise at the silence of the international community towards Serbia.
“I believe that their silence does not contribute to de-escalation, neither to the investigation nor to justice,” he said. Kurti added that the goal is security, especially at the borders of Kosovo, while KFOR is responsible for security in the border area.
“It’s not about arrest in Serbia, it’s about kidnapping in Kosovo,” said Kurti. “Let’s not forget that the responsibility for this border line is above all that of KFOR,” said the Ministry of Defense Svecla.
In the meantime, Kurti has also responded to the letter of the High Representative of the EU, Josep Borrell, who asked him to coordinate with KFOR and EULEX for the actions from now on in the north. “Well, operational actions, when someone has to be arrested, are not my business. I believe they are not the business of EU officials either.”
PM Kurti has reiterated his position that the police force in the north will be reduced only when the criminals leave the north.
It is announced that Brussels continues to toughen its stance towards Pristina and there are threats about sanctions against Kosovo. /argumentum.al
