TIRANA, June 24 – The former mayor of Kukës, Safet Gjici was put behind bars at the request of SPAK and the order of the Special Court on Saturday.
Despite the fact that SPAK initially started investigations mainly related to the charge of “Abuse of duty” after the publication of the video scandal, Gjici was arrested under the charge of “Passive corruption” since the full video published showed his conversation with the woman he had intimate relations on a tender for the sterilization of dogs, News 24 reported on Saturday.
“SPAK turned to the Special Court to arrest Gjici involved in a sexual scandal a few days ago. At the moment when the video was published, SPAK started the investigation for abuse of power, but after the publication of the long video where there was also talk about a tender for the sterilization of dogs. Then the investigations for passive corruption started,” it was reported.
Gjici was arrested at the premises of a bar near his house at ‘Vilat Gjermane’. SPAK has provided evidence from investigations implicating him in the criminal offense of corruption. /argumentum.al
