TIRANA, June 29 – “We support all efforts by the High Representative of the EU, Josep Borrell and NATO for Kosovo and we support the idea of organizing a conference, as soon as possible, where the most active European states are involved for this matter as well as the US,” declared the president of the European Council, Charles Michel.
“The time has come to have a comprehensive approach to the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia,” said Michel in a joint press conference with the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels on Thursday.
NATO Secretary General is taking part in the European Council on Thursday at the invitation of European Council President Charles Michel.
“This is very important, because we have said that we want to try our best to do something for the Western Balkans, together with the Western Balkans,” said the president of the European Council, Charles Michel.
In the meantime the NATO Secretary General praised the partnership between NATO and the European Union, which has reached unprecedented levels. He described it as key for continued support to Ukraine and in responding to other critical challenges.
The Secretary General also underscored the shared focus of NATO and the EU on the situation in Kosovo. He stressed that the NATO-led KFOR mission continues to implement its UN mandate impartially. He called on Belgrade and Pristina to avoid escalation and return to the EU-facilitated dialogue. /argumentum.al
