TIRANA, June 29 – The ambassador of the European Union, Christiane Hohmann, will leave Albania after only one year of duty in this country, according to various reports which specify that Hohman will leave Albania on September 1 and is expected to go to Iraq as ambassador of Germany.
So far, there has been no official reaction from the Delegation of the European Union regarding this issue, however, contacted by the media its sources have confirmed the ambassador’s departure, clarifying that she will return to the German Foreign Service for her next assignment.
“EU Ambassador Christiane Hohmann will return to the German Foreign Service from 1 September 2023 for her next senior assignment. For further questions on the process of appointing the new EU Ambassador to Albania, please contact the European External Action Service in Brussels,” EU sources said.
Before starting her ambassadorial mandate in Albania in August 2022 Christiane Hohmann was the ambassador of Germany to Estonia. Previously, she served as Berlin’s ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2016-2019.
On August 2, 2022, Hohman presented her credentials to President Bajram Begaj. /argumentum.al
