TIRANA, June 30 – As a response to the potential deployment of Russian nukes in neighboring Belarus, Poland is willing to host NATO nuclear weapons on its territory, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on June 30, as reported by Polish news outlet Gość.
“We declare our readiness to act swiftly in this regard; we cannot remain idle while Putin escalates various threats,” said Morawiecki.
“In connection with the fact that Russia intends to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus … we are appealing to the entire NATO to take part in the Nuclear Sharing program,” Morawiecki told reporters after the EU summit.
Recently, Russian President Vladmir Putin said they had stationed the first batch of tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. Speaking to a forum, he said they would only be used in the case of threat to Russia’s territory or state. He added they expected the transfer of the tactical nuclear warheads to be completed by the end of the summer. /argumentum.al
