TIRANA, July 12 – The socialist majority and the opposition have opened the way for SPAK to arrest Arben Ahmetaj, agreeing to grant authorization after the request of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for the arrest of the former minister.
It was the DP who, through the head of the Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, presented and submitted the report, which recommends to the Council of Mandates the removal of immunity for the purpose of “granting authorization for the arrest/deprivation of freedom, personal control and control of the MP’s apartment Arben Ahmetaj”.
The Socialist Party has been on the same line, giving authorization to SPAK’s request.
On Friday, according to the regulation, the report will be submitted first and then, at 12:00, the Council of Legislation will meet for the presentation of this report. Therefore, on Monday at 17:00, a plenary session is expected to be held where the report of the Council of Mandates on the removal of the immunity of the deputy of Arben Ahmetaj will be voted.
The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani and then the prosecutor Enkeleda Millonai presented to the Council on Tuesday all the facts through which they think that Ahmetaj should be arrested. For the first time, SPAK asked the Assembly that this session be held behind closed doors, since the file considered secret includes other names, which was opposed by the opposition.
The Special Prosecutor’s Office asked the Assembly on Monday to authorize the arrest of former minister Arben Ahmetaj. SPAK declared that it had collected evidence showing that the former Minister of Finance committed corruption in six cases.
Arben Ahmetaj is also suspected by SPAK of suspicious actions for the three incinerators. The other charge is related to the concealment of wealth, and the investigation is based on the preventive seizure of two villas, one in Palasa and the other in Hamallaj. /argumentum.al
