TIRANA, July 13 – President Bajram Begaj has said that Albania and Slovenia should continue to cooperate closely linked by partnership in NATO and common strategic interests in the Balkan region and beyond.
Begaj was received by the president of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar on Thursday in the frame of his two-day visit there. After the official ceremony organized on this occasion and the meetings between the two delegations, Begaj and Musar held a joint press conference.
In his statement, Begaj considered Slovenia an important regional and European partner, so he expressed special gratitude to President Pirc Musar for the essential and continuous support that this country has given to the process of Albania’s integration into the European Union in particular, and the enlargement process of all the countries of the Western Balkans.
A special attention was paid to economic cooperation and the need for its greater promotion.
“We note with pleasure a growing trend of this cooperation, especially in the field of trade in goods and services, where tourism undoubtedly occupies a very important place. I assured President Pirc Musar that Albania is interested in more Slovenian investments in Albania,” said Begaj.
When asked how he comments on the current situation in the region, Begaj answered that “Albania is a promoter of peace, security, stability and long-term cooperation in the region. Stability is not given for free, you have to work to have it and unfortunately the situation in the north of Kosovo has shown us that stability is very important.” /argumentum.al
