TIRANA, June 20 – The deputies of the Democratic Party (DP), who did not participate on Tuesday in the meeting of the National Council of the main faction led by former head Lulzim Basha said that the meeting was not legitimate as there was not the required quorum.
In a joint statement, MPs Lefter Gështenja, Ramadan Likaj, Bledion Nallbati, Dashnor Sula, Helidon Bushati, Xhelal Mziu and Saimir Korreshi declared that they will hold individual meetings with each legitimate member of the National Council on the situation in DP.
Considering the result of Tuesday’s meeting as unstatutory, they announced that they would take the initiative to individually contact and evaluate the will of each legitimate member of the National Council on the situation in the Democratic Party convinced that divisive acts, exclusions, and haste do not help in the revival of DP.
The aim of the meeting of the Council was to adopt the decision on the election of the new chairman of the DP faction but no candidates have been registered as yet. Former head Lulzim Basha has expressed his will to become chairman of the DP. /argumentum.al
