TIRANA, August 12 – Deputy of the Democratic Party (DP), Flutura Açka, has sent a letter to the President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, asking him not to decree the new law on the Academy of Sciences.
The law made by two deputies of the Socialist Party and approved by the majority in the last plenary session of the Assembly in July is considered by the opposition as an instrument to give a second mandate, but even more to Skënder Gjinushi, the head of the Academy of Sciences.
MP Açka has announced her position on the law as well as the request she addressed to the Head of State through a reaction on social networks on Saturday.
“A law that tarnishes us all. The academy belongs to academics, not politicians,” said Açka at the beginning of the letter.
She published the full letter addressed to President Bajram Begaj not to enact the draft law on “Some additions to Law 53/2019 of the Academy of Sciences in RSH”. She described it as a clandestine draft law with which the working group of the socialist majority openly violated the Parliament’s regulations and the Constitution of Albania. /argumentum.al
