Albania extended the deadline for submitting bids in a tender for the construction of a 115 km long section of the Adriatic–Ionian motorway for a second time this month to give potential candidates more time to prepare their documents, the infrastructure ministry said.
The deadline for the construction of the motorway section from the northern town of Milot to the southwestern city of Fier was extended to November 9 from October 28 in order to provide more transparency for companies interested in taking part in the tender, the infrastructure ministry said in a statement on Tuesday as quoted by SeeNews.
The original deadline of September 28 was first extended to October 28 due to the Covid-19 crisis, the ministry said earlier this month.
The estimated cost of the project is around 1.2 billion euro ($1.4 billion), the ministry said in the tender notice published in July.
The contract envisages the construction, operation, maintenance and transfer of the road segment Milot – Thumana – Kashar – Luzi Vogel – Fier under a 35-year public–private partnership (PPP) agreement.
The Adriatic–Ionian motorway, also known as the Blue Corridor, will stretch along the entire eastern coast of the Adriatic and Ionian seas.
