TIRANA – “Albania has acted rapidly and correctly for taking restrictive measure while the fight goes on regarding the economic plan on the Covid-19 impact, which is taking shape,” has said PM Edi Rama.
Mr. Rama made this comment in a post on his FB account on Tuesday in which he also revealed that the premiers of the Western Balkan countries had held a videoconference with the Austrian Chancellor, Sebastian Kurz and the Enlargement Commissopmer, Oliver Varhelyi.
According to him, the videoconference dealt with the guaranteeing of access of the regional countries to the European market for medical imports during the struggle against Covid-19.
It was also spoken on the meeting of the Council of Europe which will be held next week and, as the PM said, it will discuss the issue on the opening of the EU accession negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia.
In a video-message on Monday evening Rama informed that a ‘plan on the financial guarantee’ will be unveiled within this week. Different business associations and small enterprises have asked the government to take facilitating measure to help them cope with the situation created due to the coronavirus epidemic.
Mr. Rama did not give details on the plan but hinted that those who work in the private sector will be supported financially. “Those who work at closed enterprises and have a salary to get at the end of March will not be left in the hands of the private entrepreneurs. The mandate of social solidarity, which has been given to the government headed by me, cannot be delegated to the entrepreneurs,” said the government head.
In addition Mr. Rama gave assurance that despite the created situation the reconstruction plan of the earthquake affected areas will not be stopped pledging that the reconstruction of houses will start soon as “the money I had for you was taken by corona (virus)”. /argumentum.al
