TIRANA, June 13 – Albanian Speaker Lindita Nikolla was received by the Speaker of the Swedish Parliament, Andreas Norlén on Tuesday.
“The excellent relations between the two countries are also being promoted by the intensification of parliamentary cooperation. We can advance this cooperation for the exchange of experiences and assistance during the negotiation process with the EU, also promoting cooperation between friendship groups, commissions, deputies and parliamentary services,” said Nikolla, who is on official visit to Sweden.
The Speaker expressed to his Swedish counterpart Albania’s strong support for Sweden’s membership in NATO and underlined that this strengthens the alliance and makes Europe safer.
During the meeting, it was discussed to promote economic, commercial cooperation and in other areas of mutual interest between the two countries, such as infrastructure, maritime transport, textiles, agriculture, etc. The reforms undertaken by the parliament and government of Albania, especially those in the field of justice, the fight against organized crime and corruption, have had a direct impact on the creation of a favorable investment climate.
The focus of the talks was also Sweden’s support to Albania’s Motion for a new Resolution of the Council of Europe on the so-called Dick Marty Resolution of 2011 and Kosovo’s request for membership in the Council of Europe, support for which Nikolla expressed his gratitude to her colleague Norlén . /argumentum.al
