Due to the cold weather that is expected to affect Albania, the Minister of Education, Evis Kushi, announced on Thursday the decision to close the schools next week from Monday to Wednesday.
Kushi said that according to meteorological forecasts, extremely low temperatures are expected in the coming days, which are extraordinary temperatures for a country like Albania, and in some areas it will even reach -17 degrees Celsius.
“For this reason, since our absolute priority at all times is the health and well-being of our children, we have decided that the schools will be closed next week, from Monday to Wednesday, and the lost hours will be replaced later in cooperation with local education offices,” said the Minister.
Of course, according to her, if the forecasts will not turn out to be accurate, and temperatures will be more acceptable, the decision will be reviewed. “We will be in constant communication with you, because for us the learning process is also of priority importance,” Kushi addressed the parents
As a matter of fact there have been repeated demands to close schools for a 2-week time because besides the cold weather the pandemic has aggravated in Albania and schools have become hotspots of infections. The number of infected children and youth has kept rising day by day. / Argumentum.al
