TIRANA, September 8 – The Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, received on Friday the new Minister of Defense of Kosovo, Ejup Macedonci, as well as the delegation that accompanied him.
Minister Peleshi appreciated the fact that Macedonci made his first official visit as Minister of Defense to Tirana, demonstrating once again the importance of relations, friendship and cooperation between the two countries, said ATA.
Discussions between the two ministers focused on bilateral cooperation in the field of security and defense, as well as the assessment of opportunities for the intensification of this cooperation in the future.
The two ministers also talked about the situation in the Western Balkans region, regional cooperation as well as the challenges the region is facing.
Minister Peleshi assured Minister Macedonci that the Ministry of Defense of Albania will continue its contribution to the promotion of the “Open Door Policy” in all regional and international initiatives, thus helping the membership of Kosovo in particular, but also every country in the Western Balkans that aspires to be integrated into the Euro-Atlantic structures.
For his part, Minister Macedonci expressed his gratitude for Albania’s continuous support to the Kosovo issue, while it was agreed to identify new areas of cooperation to further intensify the relations between Kosovo and Albania.
It is not reported if the issue of the EU mediated talks between Kosovo and Serbia was discussed as a meeting between PM Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is expected to be held in Brussels on September 14 against the background of a tense situation in northern Kosovo. /argumentum.al
