The deployment of a group of 30 commandos of the Albanian Armed Forces to Kosovo has been considered as an event of a mission of great importance for Kosovo, but also for the Western Balkans by the Defense Minister, Niko Peleshi.
Peleshi made that comment at the ceremony of the departure of the commando group that will join the NATO international mission, codenamed “KFOR 1” in Peja, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Defense on Friday.
“After the withdrawal and closure of the mission in Afghanistan, we pledged to continue to increase our participation in NATO and international missions in general, and this is the case,” the minister said.
Peleshi has shown that this is the first time that Albania in this mission has sent a special contingent of boys and girls, who, according to him, are the best that the Armed Forces has.
“In these challenging days of global peace and security, this doubles and increases the attention, but also the responsibility of each of us and each of you to serve professionally, with military discipline, with dignity in respect of the code of ethics and the values of our alliance,” “Not an inch of this Alliance can be touched,” stressed Peleshi, calling NATO the strongest alliance in the world.
