TIRANA, April 25 – Albania and the United Kingdom have intensified work to address the issue of illegal Albanian immigrants in the United Kingdom.
The State Police and the Home Office pledged cooperation to address illegal immigration through a joint statement released on Tuesday.
“Following the joint Albania-United Kingdom communique to address illegal immigration, law enforcement agencies in both countries have intensified their work, especially regarding the passage of small boats in the English Channel,” the statement said.
According to the statement, the British and Albanian authorities have worked together to prevent the entry and stay of illegal immigrants in the United Kingdom. The statement said that since the signing of the communiqué, the new figures show that over 1000 Albanian citizens have been returned to Albania.
“These data include citizens who cannot receive asylum, law breakers as well as those who returned voluntarily due to the signing of the Joint Communiqué on December 13 until the first week of April,” said the joint statement of the Police of State and Home Office. /Argumentum.al
