TIRANA, October 14 – Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Igli Hasani has said that the strengthening of strategic cooperation remains the only path towards the European integration of the region, as he underlined Albania’s proactive role in this regard.
Hasani made that statement in the proceedings of the open forum on the topic “Unblocking progress: The European future of the Western Balkans”, held in Tirana on Saturday in the frame of the activities organized in the framework of the Summit of the Berlin Process.
According to him, WB countries should also see from the EU a tangible commitment to the credibility of their perspective of EU membership.
“We look forward to the opening of core group negotiations at the Second Intergovernmental Conference by the end of this year. This would send an important signal of the credibility of the EU perspective for the region,” said the Albanian top diplomat.
Hasani stated that the role and engagement of civil society for economic growth, institutional reforms and convergence of the region with the EU is also essential. /argumentum.al
