TIRANA, November 17 – Albania insists on the extradition of the drug baron, Dritan Rexhepi even though such a request was presented to Turkey by Italy.
The Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, stated on Friday that the Ministry of Justice has started the procedures for sending complete documentation to the Turkish authorities, with the aim of extraditing the much-wanted Dritan Rexhepi, who was arrested 1 week ago in Istanbul.
“The Ministry of Justice, in this case, only plays the role of mediator between our 2 judicial authorities. The documentation that has arrived at the Ministry of Justice is complete and we will send it to the Turkish justice authorities very soon,” said Minister Manja.
Dritan Rexhepi is wanted by the Albanian authorities for several serious criminal offenses. Specifically, there is a 25-year sentence against him in 2014 by the former Serious Crimes Court for the murder of police officers Arben Keqi and Durim Kasmi.
Also SPAK has brought against him the charge of organizing the kidnapping and disappearance of Jan Prenga, an event that happened in 2020, where drug trafficking is suspected to be the cause.
Dritan Rexhepi, otherwise known as Gramoz, has been convicted in Italy as well for this drug trafficking. /argumentum.al
