“Relations between Albania and China are friendly. Existing political relations between the governments and parliaments of the two countries can and should be intensified. There are also untapped opportunities between the two countries to expand economic and trade cooperation.”
This is said in a press release issued by the press office of the Parliament which gave details on the meeting between Speaker Lindita Nikolla and the Ambassador of China to Tirana, Zhou Ding on Wednesday.
Ambassador Ding wished Nikolla success in her high office as Speaker of the Parliament and assured her of the will of the People’s Republic of China to expand cooperation with Albania as well as increase parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
In addition it is stressed in the statement that the parliamentary exchanges between Albania and China have been very good in the form of official visits at high levels as well as at the level of delegations of Friendship Groups.
The Friendship Group with the People’s Republic of China will be formed in the Albanian Parliament soon.
Speaker Nikola stressed that “the Assembly will increase cooperation with the National People’s Assembly of the People’s Republic of China and will promote comprehensive cooperation between the two countries and our two peoples.”
The 72nd anniversary of the foundation of the People’s Republic of China is celebrated on October 1 and the 50th anniversary of China’s taking its legal seat at the United Nations an event which significant event even for Albanian diplomacy as it contributed to the adoption of that decision which was opposed by the US and some of its closest allies.
Chinese authorities have always appreciated highly the untiring endeavor of Albania which in close cooperation with a large number of countries, mostly developing ones, overcame the US illegal obstacle. China is also one of the 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council. /argumentum.al
