TIRANA, May 17 – Prime Minister Edi Rama attended on Wednesday the “United around Europe” session at the Summit of the leaders of the Council of Europe that is being held in Iceland.
In the speech held at this summit, Rama said that “as an Albanian, it is impossible for me to avoid drawing parallels between Ukraine and President Zelensky and Kosovo and President (Hashim) Thaçi.”
“Today, at this summit of the Council of Europe, I cannot sit without remembering that the injustice against the liberation war of Kosovo and its leader, Hashim Thaçi, started precisely in the Council of Europe under the malicious influence of the former member of this Council at that time, the Russian Federation,” Rama said.
“I would be guilty if I remained silent and did not speak here today and say the following: That the Assembly of the Council of Europe has the moral obligation to correct any mistake and in this case should pave the way for the withdrawal of the report that falsely labeled Albania as a base for suspected organ trafficking by the Kosovo Liberation Army,” he said.
According to PM Rama, refusing to face the truth today would be worse than making this grave mistake 12 years ago where many voted with their eyes closed for this shameful report in good faith. /argumentum.al
