Prime Minister Edi Rama continued to criticize the European Union during the deliberations of the plenary session of Parliament which approved the Albanian government’s agreement with Pfizer on anti Covid vaccines by a majority of votes
on Monday.
Rama said that the EU left the fate of vaccinating people in the Western Balkans to bilateral agreements.
“In the concept of planning access to vaccines from Pfizer, the EU did not look beyond its own borders. It left the fate of vaccinating people in our region to what is called the possibility of bilateral agreements. Besides Serbia and Albania, no other country has started vaccination for the moment,” he said.
Regarding the COVAX platform Rama said it has not yet started to supply any country.
On Monday, there were 292 new cases of coronavirus infections while 4 fatalities were registered.
Speaking of the national vaccination plan, Rama said there are three scenarios. “The most ambitious scenario is vaccination of all categories and ages, which are included in the plan, within 14 months, the middle scenario has an 18-month agenda and the third scenario has a 24-month agenda. We will do everything to pursue first scenario,” said the PM. /argumentum.al
