TIRANA, July 21 – Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted to the situation in the north of Kosovo, stressing that “the European Union must act decisively to ensure the rapid implementation of the Basic Agreement”.
Rama said that the Western Balkans cannot become a hostage to a fruitless crisis between Kosovo and Serbia.
“We cannot allow either Northern Kosovo, where the border between organized crime and local politicians is unclear, to become a small Donbas due to an uprising instigated by Russia, nor the dialogue to become a blame game of the old Balkans because of the lack of a real and strong will of the parties involved,” said Rama.
According to him, the discussions are good, but what the region needs is a breakthrough before it is too late.
The special representative of the European Union for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak, met in Brussels last Wednesday the head of the negotiating team of Kosovo in the dialogue with Serbia, Besnik Bislimi and Petar Petkovic from the Serbian side. After the meeting, Lajçak said that the dialogue will continue. / argumentum.al
