TIRANA, March 21 – “You have managed to maintain very well the balance between integration and preservation of identity for about six centuries,” said President Bajram Begaj to the members of a delegation of Arbëresh municipality mayors on Tuesday.
Begaj touched upon the excellent model that the historical Arbëresh diaspora has given in preserving the Albanian language, traditions and culture.
He also focused on the role of the Arbëresh people in preserving and inheriting the Albanian language. “The love and dedication of the Arbëresh people to inherit our language and culture generation after generation has enabled the establishment of Albanian language chairs at the University of Rome, Naples, Cosenza and Palermo, which have become important centers of education,” said the President.
President Begaj assured the mayors of Arbëresh municipalities that the Albanian state will continue to pay due attention to the Arbëresh people as an inherent part of the Albanian nation. /Argumentum.al
