In many cities across Albania there were celebrations on Sunday evening to welcome the New Year 2024.
In the capital, Tirana, the city hall organized a festive concert with the performance of some of the best Albanian artists.
Meanwhile, in other cities, there were fireworks and the sort of festive atmosphere which has rarely been seen before.
In his end-of-year message, the Albanain PM said 2023 was the best year the country had ever seen.
The head of the state, Bajram Begaj urged politicians to put aside their differences and work together to serve the country’s interests.
The opposition leader, Sali Berisha, who is now under house arrest, posted a message on social media. The former PM said the country is going through its worst period, while urging supporters to overthrow what he considered to be “a regime”.
