TIRANA, October 12 – The resolution on Kosovo was approved with 101 votes in favor and 1 abstention by the 140-member Assembly of Albania. At the end of the motion with debate and interpellation on Thursday, the Assembly voted in favor of the resolution presented by the majority and opposition, which condemns the September 24 Serb attack in the north of Kosovo.
106 deputies were present in the parliamentary session that lasted 5 hours, and the amendments of the DP deputy, Kreshnik Collaku, were not put to the vote. The draft laws that were on the agenda last week and that were not voted as the opposition blocked the floor were also voted on.
The resolution approved in the Assembly united the opposition and the majority. It consists of three points.
The resolution is in accordance with the Constitutional commitments of the Republic of Albania and the policy of protecting the common strategic national interests between Albania and Kosovo. It is in support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kosovo and its constitutional institutions, as well as the efforts to protect democratic values, security and peace in Kosovo and in the region.
The resolution expressed the deep concern about the situation created in the Republic of Kosovo after the organized military and criminal attack of a Serbian terrorist unit in the north of the country, on September 24, 2023. /argumentum.al
