TIRANA – The heads of the Democratic Party (DP) and Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI), respectively Lulzim Basha and Monika Kryemadhi have reportedly agreed that the pending electoral reform should be concluded within May this year.
Such a report comes after a meeting between them on Wednesday in the string of meetings that the DP head, Basha, who is also leader of the so called the United Opposition in Albania which is not represented in parliament, had on the electoral reform. Earlier on Wednesday he met the German Ambassador to Tirana, Petr Zingraf, while the US Ambassador, Yuri Kim met him on Tuesday.
“It is learned that Basha and Kryemadhi have agreed on questions which will be discussed on the electoral reform at Thursday’s meeting of the Political Council and have agreed on the closure of the process within this month (May) as it is set in the deadline,” argumentum.al reported on Wednesday.
The meeting of SMI’s Kryemadhi was held at DP’s Headquarters after experts on the electoral reform of the largest opposition force met with Democrat chief Basha.
Kryemadhi was accompanied by her deputy Petrit Vasili who is a member of the Political Council on the electoral reform co-chaired by representatives of the ruling Socialist Party and the Democratic Party, Damian Gjiknuri and Oerd Bylykbashi respectively. /argumentum.al
