Albania’s EU-harmonised Annual Inflation Flat at 2.1% in August

Albania’s harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) increased by 2.1% on the year in August, after rising at the same rate a month earlier, the country’s statistical office said.
The highest increase was seen in the harmonised index of consumer prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages – of 4.1%, followed by a 3.6% increase in transport and a 1.4% rise in the alcoholic beverages and tobacco group, INSTAT said in a statement last week as quoted by SeeNews on Monday.
On a monthly comparison basis, Albania’s HICP increased by 0.2% in August, after falling by 0.5% in the previous month.
Albania’s non-harmonised consumer price inflation slowed to 1.3% year-on-year in August, from 1.4% the previous month, INSTAT said earlier this month.
INSTAT started publishing inflation measurement through the HICP in February 2017. The HICP measures consumer price inflation in the euro area. It is compiled according to a methodology that has been harmonised across EU countries to ensure that the data for one country can be compared with the data for another.
