Foreign Minister Olta Xhacka has announced that she made an appeal to the participants of the extraordinary meeting of NATO held in Brussels on Friday to make much more regarding the situation in Ukraine which is under attack by Russia.
Xhacka underlined that the meeting discussed the increase of the allied countries’ support for Ukraine.
In a reaction on Twitter, Albania’s top diplomat said: “On behalf of Albania, I called on the extraordinary meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers to do more. We discussed increasing allied support for Ukraine and how NATO can further strengthen its defense of allied territory.”
Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Xhacka met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and the Commander of the Supreme Allied Command Europe, General Todd Walters, during NATO’s extraordinary meeting.
The meeting, chaired by NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, was also attended by Finland and Sweden, NATO’s operational partner countries, and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
The foreign ministers of the allied countries discussed the consequences of Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine, confirming that NATO countries continue to respond fully united and in one voice to the biggest security crisis in Europe for decades. /Argumentum.al
