TIRANA, August 31 – Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted in a post on Twitter to respond to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, which stated in an official statement on Wednesday that “(it) resolutely rejects his suggestions as unacceptable and inappropriate for the behavior of a prime minister of a candidate country for EU membership.”
Sofia’s official statement is related to what Rama said at the strategic summit of Bled in Slovenia a few days ago.
“The anti-Bulgarian rhetoric of Edi Rama has become a permanent refrain of his political discourse,” said Bulgaria’s official statement
In his tit-for-tat reaction, the head of the Albanian government asked that someone clearly translate his speech in Bled to his Bulgarian friends about how Bulgaria blocked the opening of accession talks for Albania and North Macedonia.
Below is Rama’s full post:
“Maybe someone should help our Bulgarian Foreign Ministry friends with the calm translation of my answer in Bled about how Bulgaria blocked the opening of accession talks for Albania and North Macedonia when finally all the others agreed after 8 long years! I simply repeated the same things I said in June.”
The Bled Forum was also an occasion for Rama to whip the EU for not helping Albania with vaccines at the outbreak of the pandemic, while he praised Turkey and its President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who provided aid to this Balkan country. /Argumentum.al
